The Bonner family is excited to welcome you back to our school where EXCELLENCE is the Norm. Our theme this year is
ROARING WITH PRIDE! Bonner’s mission is to educate all PK-5th grade scholars to excel in college and career through rigorous, differentiated instruction, strategic support, and excellence in all that we do. La misión de Bonner es educar a todos los eruditos de los grados PK a 5o grado para que sobresalgan en la universidad y sus carreras a través de instruccion diferenciada y rigurosa, apoyo estratégico y excelencia en todo lo que hacemos. KNOW MORE ABOUT PRINCIPAL SONIA GUEVARA:

Sonia Guevara is honored to serve as Principal of Bonner Elementary for the 2026–2027 school year. Having most recently served as Bonner’s Assistant Principal, Principal Guevara is a familiar and dedicated leader who brings a deep understanding of the students, families, and community she serves. Her leadership is grounded in a commitment to student achievement, instructional excellence, and meaningful partnerships with the Houston community she proudly calls home.

A native Houstonian and proud product of Houston ISD, Principal Guevara graduated from César E. Chávez High School before attending Texas A&M University in College Station, where she earned degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies and Spanish. She later earned a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University.

Principal Guevara began her career with Houston ISD in 2014, serving as a classroom teacher for nine years before accepting an Assistant Principal position at Bonner Elementary. During her three years in that role, she played an integral part in the school’s continued growth and improvement, including helping the campus improve its accountability rating from a C to a B.

As principal, she is committed to building upon Bonner’s progress by fostering a culture of high expectations, strong instruction, collaboration, and excellence where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Outside of school, Principal Guevara enjoys traveling, exercising, and spending time with her husband and their two dogs.
